Two tone finish for monks

So someone else posted this as a suggestion a while back, and I think I'd like to give it a shot. Shoe gave his Lobb monks a two tone finish as below, and I'd like to do the same for my Moras. So the question becomes, how do you suggest I go about it?

^^^ Man those are some sweet looking shoes. You could use the methods in Rider's antiquing thread or do a simplified version of saddle soaping and polishing with desired color.

I'm slowly developing something along those lines with a dark brown Lowndes from C&J. Doing it the natural way i.e wear and two colours of brown polish, one slightly lighter than the shoe and one a shade darker and an occasional black. Coming on slowly but nicely and theraputic doing it yourself and seeing it develop
