To me, this is the definition of dressing for the sake of conspicuousness. Thoughts?

No issue with that.. fit is good and it suits him. Surely it's nice when people notice you for what you are wearing though I try to achieve this while still putting things together well, wearing good quality and fit

I'd love to see more of that DB jacket. Looks good!

The guy on the left looks acceptable. But not standing next to the guy on the right since they have what appears to be the same jacket and tie and cutaway collar. It looks like they are shopping partners. The guy on the right, his overcoat is obnoxious.

I thought the same thing... actually, it sort of looks like his shoe is losing its toupee. Nevertheless, I like the color of the coat as well (though I don't know that I'd ever wear one myself). Byblos does colorful shades like that really well; it would definitely be on my list of brands (along with Etro) if I ever get the nerve to branch out in my colors. Burberry Prorsum also did one of their famous coats in that color recently (maybe current spring season? In any case, within a year or two). As such, the earlier member who mentioned his dress as "marketing" is probably spot on... that color is one of the "it" colors of the season and so probably he's just trying to show how it can worn.

Aside from the coat, that is what he always wears and is pretty much his signature style (DB odd jacket, monk strap shoes that are undone, and wide spread shirt collar)

I think obsessing about 'trying to hard' is trying to hard. This is clothes Conne, not religion!!
