Well, in my mind it was supposed to be white. I made it semi-transparent to try pick up the texture of the tie, but it seems that the underlying orange stripe has made it pinkish. Considering how much easier it is to select a color from a palette then to get silk to match, I would think white would be more practicable.

actually I was hoping it would be pink...i think white would be too much of a contrast.

I like the striped knit with a California tux for outfits that are half sloppy conservative business dress, half dandy. A lot of the summery knits I would pass over for going without a tie. So my vote is for some kind of solid navy background with gold or brown and another color, maybe a ligher blue or burgundy. And I'd like to see the stripes spaced wide enough to not be looking busy. That is my humble contribution to the groupthink on the joys of striped knit ties.
