Suit trousers - lining and/or silk saddle?

I recently had several suits made, of which the pants were lined to the knee.

Due to some comparatively large thighs, I tend to wear through the pants up towards the border. Obviously, I'd like to maximise the lifespan of the pants.

My question - is there any benefit to getting a silk saddle (that's the term I've heard used in Australia, not sure if a different term is used elsewhere) stitched in, in addition to the lining of the pants? Or should the lining alone suffice?

Appreciate any ideas.

Yes. Get a saddle.

A silk saddle is, technically, a crotch lining and is made with two layers of the same fabric used for jacket linings (usually rayon/acetate mix).

someotherstyle - Thanks for confirming. I figured as such, but didn't know if there was some sort of static/anti gravity thing that happened when wool clashed with lining, which then clashed with further lining.

Personally I would recommend a cotton, silk blended saddle, preferably with reinforced stitching. This offers both comfort and endurance. There is always benefit to getting a saddle!
