Hi there everyone! I just joined and need your help. I recently bought a dark brown suede/shearling coat and wondered if it is a faux pas to wear it with brown distressed shiny leather boots. Also, the coat is a very dark chocolate brown color and my boots are a little lighter shade of brown. BTW I still have time to return the coat and get a brown nappa leather finish shearling which more closely matches the boots. Thanks in advance and I'm glad to be a new member of this forum.

Either is fine, but I'm tyring to understand why your distressed boots are all shiny?

If you like the original coat, keep it!

The boots are not shiny like dress shoes but can be polished to a nice shine. They are Fiorentini + Baker brand.

here we go...

I wear my blue jeans over the boots and a blue sportshirt or sweater.

While I like suede I feel it is somewhat conservative. The length is only 32". Smooth leather just seems to pop more. The other nappa finish shearling coat I am considering which is 36" long:
