I think that has been accounted for. In 1.2.2 of that book, they mention a study where additional calories from ethanol or chocolate were compared. Ethanol, no weight gain. Chocolate, 3kg gain. But there were some other abstracts I read where it did cause weight gain and I think a lot of them show a change in lipogenesis/lysis with ethanol even when there's no net weight gain. I'm not saying drinking is a good diet

Besides what's mentioned, why not balance your caloric intake throughout your day and then drink what you like within reason at night. Half of what I enjoy about drinking, is what I'm drinking. To sell-out taste to calories, never worked for me.

That would just be too...rational. We don't buy that crap around here. It's all about finding ways around the natural rules of the universe.
