I like the sockless look in the spring and summertime, but I can't abide the consequences. To that end, I grabbed a handful of the complementary slip-on socks from the women's shoe department at Neiman Marcus and stuffed them into my pockets.

Loafer socks are all too often visible and destroy the intended aesthetic. A friend of mine gave me two pairs of Japanese half-socks--she felt strange wearing them. They are exactly what I am looking for, covering the toes, the sole, and the back of the heel. Did a cursory search for more, but haven't been able to find them. Would love more.

H&M has exactly what you're looking for at about $5/2 pair.

Just to reiterate what's already been said by a bunch of people: I really like the look, but just can't do it, for reasons of comfort/hygeine/etc.

This is one reason I've started to get back into hype sneakz.* I'm moving to a place where shorts are pretty much crucial for a lot of the year, and I'd love to do Sperrys/Chucks/Vans with no socks, but it ain't gonna happen. Air Max 1s, 90s, and Dunks* look pretty decent with those ankle/no show socks, imo. Plus they're comfier and more durable than basic canvas stuff.

I considered this but the jacket wasn't white. I also considered Miami but then the jacket wasn't white nor were your jacket sleeves pushed up.

Thank you. My sister lives in SF but she refuses to proxy for me. She said that it's basically like shopping at KMart, with clothes strewn everywhere. She also said that finding the right size was a huge hassle.

Every once in a while I'll put on shoes without socks to take the trash out or something, and by the time I get back inside I'm usually ready to kick them off my feet violently. You sockless folk are weird.

Also, I reject the affectations of privileged youth from all eras, not just our own.

You're wearing Dunks and stuff because you can't wear Sperrys/Chucks/Vans without socks?

The great thing about sperrys, chucks and vans is that they are all really cheap. wear them without socks, use odoreaters, discard if you think they smell. just wash your feet and if you are really sweaty you could use that prescription strengh antiperspirant on your feet. there is no reason not to wear them. if you like air maxs better wear them instead. (I wear those without socks too).
