That's the point of the thread, these are ultra-lightweight canvas sneakers with good arch support. I found the beige ones at Daffy's for $39.99, and might just go with those (I'll just return the blue) if I cannot find a good alternative.

Given that I am possibly alot older than the late-teen or early 20s posters here, fashion is perhaps less important than function for me.

Well if fashion is out, then comfort should be the only thing that's in... I think the beige one is a better pick. Actually, IF you're stuck on Timberland canvas I think this is a better option aesthetically (in Oyster, not Taupe). http://www.macys.com/catalog/product...ognc?ID=301115 I still think PF Flyers look better though.

Thanks for the input; to my taste the scoll looks better, though if you like the block islands, they are on sale at the timberland.com site.

if your standing all day new balance 992 are the way to go.
