Should you buy selvedge denim a little snug or a size up?

I just purchased some Baldwin Reed jeans and I am usually a size 34 but the clerk told me to buy 33's. I don't know if this was the wrong advice. I don't plan on soaking them but I am wondering if they will stretch out. Yes, I know all denim will stretch, but I'm not familiar with raw, selvedge denim. I usually wear Diesel jeans but decided to switch it up a bit and make for a new look. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
