Shoe and Shoe polish help: Brown Oxfords

Hi guys I bought these shoes

and I want to take care of them. two questions:
1. The shoe seems to have gotten darker after about a month of wear, can anyone tell me why that is?
2. What kind of shoe polish should I get? I know colored ones have to match exactly but I can't find any that are redwood(my shoe is redwood pebbled). Someone recommended to me either clear or neutral polish. Could someone describe the difference between the two?
