Gents, with spring/summer just around the corner here in Oz I've decided to invest in a number of tailored shorts to see me through the next few months.

I'm wondering has anyone come across any good sources (online) recently, or has bought any pairs that they are particularly happy with and would recommend them to others?

Any help is much appreciated!

Find a good fitting pair of trousers and have them cut off at the knees.

^ was that also a result of Mrs T's headache?

I can just imagine it now ... walk into a tailor and tell them you want your pants hemmed and let them keep marking them up until they are just above the knee. Would be very funny but oh so impractical.

Seriously though, anyone have any good sources or can recommend some quality brands?

^ Tomasso's half serious. Altering trews into shorts is not an uncommon thing to do around here...

This sort of topic veers more into SW&D territory, so you'd get better responses there. My recommendations: Rag & Bone, Trovata, or in the lower price range, J Crew, Uniqlo, Zara/Club Monaco/Benetton, GAP.

Do you mean tailored shorts as in... bespoke shorts?

Do you have a strange shape or something?

Fair point, and I have to say it does make sense if the trousers were getting a little old and worn or you had somehow managed to damage them (below the knee) ... but has does anyone really buy a pair of trousers the purpose of turning them into shorts? I would imagine certainly not at the high end ...

No, not bespoke shorts. I mean shorts that essentially look like trousers ... as in they have a crease, slanted pockets etc ...

RL is really the only brand that I can think of at the moment Hillfiger has them as well, but a pair that I bought last year hasn't held up well at all.

Try Original Penguin. Most of their shorts have flat fronts and slanted pockets, but are also a fair bit slimmer than others.

Etro and Borrelli make ncie looking shorts. You may also consider picking up a few pairs of casual pants on Yoox at dirt cheap prices and having your tailor make them into shorts.
