Sartorialist: Shirt as a sweater

Personally I think the cap and tie look a bit dorky, but overall it's a pretty good look. I'd also like to see the shirttail squared.

Does anyone think the Satorialist has finally run his course. It seem's every photo of his shows people trying really hard to pull of something new and none of them really work at all, and just look pretentious and stupid. Dont get me wrong I do go to his site everyday but its a lot of ass kissing from the readers to him and It's almost disgusting.

I can't seem to find a photo, but I have something extremely similar in gray, a cashmere knit shirt from hickey.

The opposite is the SF WAYWT which is criticized constantly because everyone "dresses the same". Consistent, safe, but ultimately boring.

I take the Satorialist with a grain of salt because he obviously goes for more extremes of dressing and if he just took a picture of people over and over again in the same "Well fitted button up/jeans/dress boots" then it would become incredibly boring.

As "pretentious" and "stuck up" as the guy in the OP's post looks, I do draw whatever inspiration from it that I can (having a shirt double up as a sweater). While I may not copy the look exactly, I might integrate it later on.

Yeah, I agree, but it's still interesting. Even though much of it is now stupid and pretentious (e.g., the low-hanging-crotch pants I saw a while ago--OMG, what a hoot!), I still look every day in fascination. I wouldn't wear most of this stuff, but I find it fascinating that some people do, and I can even find a bit of inspiration for my own attire. Maybe.

I also think the sartorialist does a fantastic job of context, setting, with his photos.

For me the site has become less interesting now that more of the "street" shots seem to be fashion industry people or at/around fashion industry events. I think it's less inspiring because even though many are trying really hard to be inventive there's a lot of group think going on, leading to some absurd looks getting more attention/approval than they deserve. I like it a lot more when he sticks to random stylish people on the streets.
