If one was to wear a brown belt, would this imply that the said wearer had ought to wear brown shoes to match? I like a lot of brown belts, but my boots are black and I think it might look funny not to match.

Thoughts?

If we are only talking about brown and black. I would wear black with black and brown with brown.

Unless its done just right, it looks blatantly wrong. Its the kind of thing that is very elementary, that peopel who have flipped through maybe two issues of GQ in their whole life would peg as wrong, so I think it a risky proposistion. Its a shame, too, because when it is done just right, it looks great.

Lately I have been doing white or a pink and blue

ribbon belt when I am going casual. I wear it with brown or black shoes. I dont normally tuck though, so they are not so obvious

Does anyone here wear a brown belt with black jeans? I don't like the look, and a Black belt is just too boring, so i end up wearing white belts even though it tends to be overdone. So for me:

Black jeans: white belt + white sneakers/black boots
Blue jeans: Brown belt + white sneakers/brown boots.

I wear a brown belt with black jeans, it contrasts with the orange stitching on my jims. ****, I also wear white sneakers!! I guess i just fucked up the rules, but then again I dont tuck in my shirts into my jeans. So who cares what belt im wearing. For anything besides jeans, you must pair dark shoes with dark belts and lighter shoes with lighter belts.

Raw Black jeans:
Light or medium-dark brown belt, but not too dark-chocolate dark. Just milk-chocolate dark.

Raw indigo jeans:
Anything

Faded black jeans:
Darker brown

Faded indigo jeans:
Anything

Black black jeans: colored belt, (I refuse to wear white belts), or black. Dark brown with super-dark black jeans doesn't look great.

As for matching belts and shoes... I think it looks tacky and overdone with sneakers. Generally necessary for dress shoes, but still, the rules are made to be broken.
