I am a little embarrassed to admit this, but I went into Shoe Pavilion on Market St (in SF) last week. They had Rockport Farnum boots marked down to $49.00. They aren't anything great, but well worth it at that price. I bought a pair in black oiled nubuck. They also had them in dark tan, but not in my size (11); I think I'll check out the store in Potrero Center and see if they have them there. Like most Rockport I've seen, they have removable insoles. I wear orthotics, so that is always a plus for me, especially if I am going to be waking in them a lot. Below is a link showing the shoe in dark tan (and at a higher price).

I dont mind the split toe but if I am going to buy a boot with a rubber sole it better be a ballsy commando sole.
