for the record, i did not put my signiture to anything as payment was done via amex and a pin number.
i take your point i have entered into a contract via intent to purchase, however, i do not see how this is any different that buying a tie or shirt in a store, and changing your mind later. i'm sure many forum members have done this in the past.

anyways, i'm not a lawyer so not qualified to comment.

as far as moaning - i understand the purpose of this forum is to ask style related questions, my questions are relevant and are in regards to M2M purcahses..
dont consider this to be moaning.

Not to mention if you aren't happy now odds are you won't be happy later. A smart shop will give you your money back so they don't have to deal with you later.

Not if bought in person as these may have been.

Good outcome, but did they discuss their approach to M2M and give a reason for not taking measurements?

In the US they call this a "stock special" It is a step between RTW and MTM. Fewer styling details. no correction for posture but you can change the length, sleeve length, girth.

They take the pattern the sample jacket was cut from and adjust. Retailer would ask for the 40R model and ask them to add 3/4" to the length, shorten sleeves 1/2" increase girth 1".

i spoke with the manager who was very polite and nice to speak with..
he said the suit fit well OTR (he looked at the fitting)..
and they seemed to feel very few adjustments were needed to the "block"..
i can respect this may be possible..
but i find it hard to undestand how i coud fit so perfectly into this OTR suit.

anyways, they did give me the refund and have lovely suits in stock..i just did'nt feel this was a true M2m service.

i have to say, left me with a very positive feeling, and left me wanting to go back to canali and choose an OTR suit in the future as they were so helpful..
