I just got an interior peice for my car that is synthetic suede (Alcantara), but the high-wear parts are all matted down with dirt and grease it's just solid and smooth instead of fuzzy.

Is there a way to restore it?

^ That maintenance book is close to useless.

I use diluted woolite to clean. Wet a lint-free cloth with it and dab/small circles on Alcantara surface - then pat dry with a separate clean cloth.

I haven't had to do it, but I think that you could use a suede shoe brush to raise the nap.

I have a dedicated electric razor for taking care of pilling.

Check out the car detailing boards for other tips. There are several, but autopia.org is a good one.
