So I was not really into this stuff but I am getting there now. I am going to see Edguy on Sunday and then Sonata Arctica next week.

I am also enjoying Yndi Halda and Alcest, but I guess that's more instrumental stuff. Anyone else?

There's always
Iron Maiden.
Blind Guardian.
Children of Bodom minus the vocals is somewhat power metal-ish
some yngwie malmsteen.
helloween.
etc.

i love metal...not a power metal kind of guy

This, except Children of Bodom (never got into them) was basically what I listened to for a couple years in high school. Well that and the occasional Cacophony, Tony MacAlpine, and Racer X, etc. (not power metal)

I don't really have too many power metal suggestions, I migrated from the genre too quickly.

Iced Earth has a bit of power metal stuff, but generally seems to fall in other metal catagories; but the band they formed with Blind Guardian, Demons and Wizards is excellent power metal. Rhapsody of Fire is a good power metal choice too, though popular enough that I'm sure you've heard them.

Hammerfall is pretty good (if a bit poppy at times)
Amon Amarth has some power-ish songs
Devin Townsend (probably not power metal though?)
King Diamond
Metal Church
Stratovarius
Uli Jon Roth (maybe not power metal, still great though)

And +1 on the others mentioned

I like Racer X, Stratovarius, Yngwie, and Blind Guardian. I don't like Maiden very much.

I really like Satriani but he's not in this sphere.

Relating to those, rather than power metal, I would suggest checking out:
~ Impellitteri (particularly I suggest starting with the songs Lost in the Rain, Hungry Days, Spanish Fire, 17th century chicken pickin', and When the Well Runs Dry, because the band can be very hit or miss in my opinion)
~ Marty Friedman
~ Jason Becker
~ Cacophony (previously mentioned)
~ Michael Lee Firkins
~ Shawn Lane / Jonas Hellborg (jazzier than metal/shred).

I have a much deeper knowledge of the more general metal and shred/neoclassical side than power metal to be honest. My power metal suggestions won't reach much further than what I posted earlier.

I'm not into power metal but I've been listening to The Sword (doom/stoner metal) non-stop for the past couple of weeks. We should change this into a general metal thread.
