Don't load up on a wardrobe all at once if you are just starting to get into "fashion." Your style will change very quickly while sifting through clothes and learning more about what suits you. Clothes you find to fit well now might be ill-fitting to you later.

When I started focusing on how I dressed, I purchased a pair of APC new standards, which at the time I felt to be the perfect fit. 6 years later, the petite standards (which are a much slimmer cut) are now looking a little wide for my liking.

Like people said, start with the basics. Just focus on fit without feeling uncomfortable. You aren't going to feel comfortable in a pair of aggressively slim jeans over night.

I agree completely with this. I made that mistake, and am still making that mistake. But it is a learning experience, and money will be wasted trying to find that perfect (doesn't exist unfortunately) look for you.
