Should overcoat colour match the suit colour or some contrasts will be better?? For example, if I wear more gray suits than blue, should I get a navy or charcoal for my dress coat?

Either one would work. Navy is always the safest bet.

Had the same dilemma picking an overcoat color. Went with navy and it does in fact goes with everything.

Overcoats don't need to match your suit. That said, I have a charcoal coat that is versatile. Both charcoal and navy are traditional colors and good choices.
