I've been looking for a sport coat lately. It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive, but I'd like it to look nice and be of decent quality. I favor brown to match my shirts.

I visited the local Nordstrom, Saks and Neiman Marcus. They had a few excellent choices (especially one by Hickey Freeman that I loved), but unfortunately they were all out of my price range, which is around $350. My excuse is I'm a med student.

That in mind, I went thrifting and came across 2 decent looking brown sport coats. One by Calvin Klein (single vent) and one by Banana Republic (double vent). I actually found an almost identical Hickey Freeman coat, but alas it was too big. What do you guys think?

If these are trash, where should I go? A tailor suggested Men's Wearhouse and JoS. A. Bank. I was also thinking of Nordstrom Rack.

HF is a solid choice. I'd avoid the CK and BR as they are likely both fused. SuitSupply would be a good option too. Where do you live? HF SCs (half canvassed) are regularly available at NMLC, Century 21, and Sierra Trading Post for $300ish.

I go to the University of Maryland though I'm home in Potomac, Maryland for the break.

I really liked the HF but it was $1000 on clearance at Nordstrom. I asked the sales associate if he could go any lower, he said he couldn't so I couldn't take it.

There is a NMLC near me, I'll head by there tomorrow. Are there any other brands you can recommend that might be there or at Nordstrom Rack? I'm an odd size (38S) so finding well fitting clothes is somewhat difficult.
