Opinion of Dark Oak Oundle

What does everyone think of this shoe? There is one on e-bay in my size and I was thinking of making it my first "real" pair of EG's.

I do own a pair of RLPL opera pumps made on the 101 last. They are size 9/9.5D. Since these are US sizes, I assume my UK size would be 9/9.5E.

This pair is on the 888 last, so can anyone weigh in on judging the fit based on the correct sizing of the RLPL pair on the 101?

Do you think the Oundle in Dark Oak is a good choice for a first pair of EG's?

Fair warning - I'm watching those too, but it's extremely unlikely I'll cave in and bid. For the record, I think those are an excellent choice for a first pair - the dressiest style of monk, but completely acceptable for casual wear. Great last as well.

Mmmmm...those look tastey! Too bad they aren't in my size.

Great shoe, although in my opinion it would look even better in burnt pine. A word of caution: if you typically wear UK9 / US9.5D in EG (as I do), you will find UK9 / US9.5E to be a bit on the wide side. Whether a less-than-ideal fit is worth the money saved is a call for you to make.

If EG factory in Northampton doesn't sell seconds or overstocks, does anyone know where Modern-vintage gets his EGs?

Get the Oundle, it's one of the dandiest shoes ever.

Is the UK 9/9.5D the same as RLPL 9/9.5D?

Don't mess with my bids anyone or you may pay the price...
