For wutever reason, do you ever alter ur waist size on a pair of jeans (most likely smaller haha)?

I don't know, up to 2 inches on washed jeans seems perfectly alright. Did this with a pair of Diesels years back and it was perfect.

On raw, I'm not sure. Maybe tailors have a hard time working with stiff denim that hasn't been washed yet, but my APC's didn't work well. Then again, I tried to take them in way too much--almost 4 inches.

One of the consequences of this was with the rise remaining the same but the waist shrinking, the fit was awkward.

Ended up selling them at a huge loss.

If you have the waist darted so that no fabric has been cut, the repair can be reversed. So no need for broken hearts. It's also a good idea to have the tailor examine the pants as you wear them-- this is infinitely better than requesting that an arbitrary length be shortened.
