I thoroughly agree with your second statement. If you can, get a meal at le comptior and watch the smoking hot belly dancers.

I just finished planning a trip to Morocco for april, my second time.

Flying into Marrakech, 2 nights there, driving into the desert, Ouarzazate pit stop for a night, next day I arrive at Merzouga, play around in the sand dunes for a couple days, then drive through the Atlas to Fes, and stay there another 2 nights.

how much would we need? we dont want extravagant food choices but something decent/normal. would 500 US each be too much to budget?

Not much needed for lunch . . . food is really, really cheap. I ate a lot of street food, don't think I spent more than $2.00 per meal.

Not recommended. If you want opium, it's widely available in Fes - any medicine shop has it.

sooo region is blowing up ... my week trip in morocco is in less than 2 weeks. cancel or worth risking it?

news shows there were protests on monday where 5 pro democracy peeps died, but everything else has been relatively peaceful and the king is still apparently widely popular. lots of news outlets are saying that morocco is NOT egypt, libya, or tunisia. probably a bad idea right?
