Modainstyle or Austin Reed: Bang for the buck

Today I was passing my Austin Reed in Edinburgh, and decided it's time to buy a suit. So they have a sale going, £299 for a made-to-measure suit in 8-9 oz. wool from British mills. I presume that sort of stuff is fused.

Or should I spend a similar amount on a suit from http://www.modainstyle.com/ and get a local tailor to alter it to fit properly?

What's the better bang for the buck? That said, I'm looking for a single breasted dark navy blue (call it midnight blue if you wish) suit for all seasons. Yes, it would be my first suit.

For your budget, get a ready-to-wear suit altered. You may still be able to get on sale from the likes of Hackett and Gieves & Hawkes, both have stores in Edinburgh. Hackett had suits reduce to £300/£350 in the sales.
