MSNBC article

I cannot imagine how this guy feels. I had a classical guitar that was recently in for minor repairs. While it was more expensive than the typical guitar you'd find at Guitar Center, it was no where near a million bucks.

Anyone ever heard him play btw?

Whoah that sucks! Poor guy... hope they can fix it and that it sounds the same as before the accident... Haven't ever heard him play (or heard of him for that matter) but here he is on YouTube: and here:

Bummer. But (perhaps) more importantly, wtf makes a violin worth $1 million? And does it sound that much better than, say, a $500K violin? Or $100K? Do these old instruments really sound so superior to newer and less expensive offerings? Or are they "worth" so much simply because of their provenance.

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of panic and soul-wrenching anguish I would be feeling were I in that position.

Lesson: Don't carry your $1m violin slung over your shoulder.

The professional violinist member of the forum should be able to elaborate further.

Personally, I like the sound of del Gesù.

not really... because Beckham is actually good at soccer.

This incident actually happened last year. It's a well timed press release.
