Not MK64 you nimwits, the original and the only one that matters. Assume I am talking about GP mode, not 1on1, time trial, or battle mode.

I personally went through a succession. First it was Yoshi (lol - he sucks). Then it was Mario (pretty good). Then Bowser (ill-fated, he sucks in actual races because once he is hit he is too slow). Then I finally settled on Koopa for his superior handling and decent acceleration.

For the time trials, generally Bowser was a good call if you didn't hit things because he has such a good top speed.

I was pretty little when I played that game .. always thought the characters were all the same [drivingwise]. So I rocked Yoshi, or Koopa/Toad.

I still got my NSES set up, usually play Mortal Kombat or NBA Jam TE .. maybe I should bust out the mario kart when I'm not drunk off ******.

Goddamn it you guys are such NOOBS.

Yoshi is the worst driver in the game. Along with Princess. He is a good beginner's driver though.

I played Mario Kart every day in class on my laptop's SNES emulator throughout senior year of college.

Easy choise is Princess. Nintendo gave her a laid-in advantage over the other drivers so girls could compete with the boys who pick Toad and Yoshi. Women are naturally horrible drivers--something must be compensated to somehow level the playing field. Hence why Princess/Peach has superior handles/spead. Misogynist much? Maybe. But I never lose with Princess/Peach.

I don't care what Metro says about SNES, I wasn't raised in that era. With that said, Yoshi in MK64... best acceleration.

Jesus. Can the mods just lock this thread? Yoshi for ****'s sake? This is a disgrace to the developers at Nintendo.

Yoshi may be the poor man's Mario in the SNES game, but damn it if I didn't use him all the time. I never claimed to be great at the game, either. I was just in it for the death matches. Those were the ****. They somehow managed to **** that element up in subsequent Mario Kart versions, and the franchise lost a lot of its magic for me.

Toad or Koopa.

MK 64 kinda sucked, and the Wii version kinda sucked, but Double Dash was good. Toad + Koopa ftw.
