Has anyone seen this week that Levi released a new (from what I understand) section of their Denim line called Selvedge goods?

I have a 10% voucher and wandered on their website to see what they had and happened to stumble on their new line.

Super-Skinny "York"

Relaxed-Straight "Hesher"

Slim-Straight "Matchstick"

Price 148$

About 3-4 new types of RAW denim in these various fits and all "imported". (probably made in Mexico).

I called their hotline to get details on whether they are zipper or button fly since the website doesn't list this detail and nobody on their hotline knew anything. Also it could be just me but the rivets on a few photos look a little weird to me but I do like some of the attempts they are making to be like NF. Same price points with raw denim in various styles with new fits.

Any thoughts?

Levis' Matchstick cut in selvage isnt a new thing but these colors are def new. I have a couple pairs of matchstick levis. They are actually my favorite cut by far. I may buy the Khaki color (poormans roy duck pants). Every pair of Matchsticks I have seen have a zipper fly :-/ My arcs are all painted on too. :-/

FYI my local nordstrom rack has levis matchstick selvage for 30.00

Two immediate reactions:

- I'm amazed that they're offering something in hank-dyed natural indigo.
- I'm dumbfounded that they're making it with 2% elastane instead of 100% cotton.

Additional thoughts:

- The "imported" thing throws me off.
- I like the looks of the jacket, including the donut buttons, but I'd rather get something made in Japan or America if I'm gonna drop that kinda skrilla on a denim jacket.
- I'm guessing these are all zip fly, since I'm pretty sure that's how all of the Hesher and Matchstick jeans are constructed.

Pretty sure the Kaihara selvage Matchsticks were also raw, since I bought a pair, tried them on, and returned them, and they were clearly raw at the time. I guess I didn't need to write all of that, in retrospect.

Nudies are all over the place. Some have elastane, some are 100% cotton, some are decent, some are lame. I have a pair or Regular Alf Dry Red Selvage I bought from Context, and they're 100% cotton and not bad.

Nothing wrong with elastane in general - it also helps control kneebags - but it seems kinda contrary to the whole idea of hank-dyeing denim with natural indigo. Think about making 17 cm Dior luster wax jeans out of super-slubby 15 oz. Texas cotton selvage denim. The two just don't quite make sense together.
