Yeah but wrt ToA (just had ToJ flashback - still waiting on my CM from 2016, DREW KEITH) it's OK to be "best" at your price point.

Isn't present Margiela pretty crap quality? I realize that doesn't change the design (unless Galliano changed the design) or the fact that it was once good. Mainly just asking because I've been intrigued by all the 5 Zip talk on StyFo but can't match it to what of MMM I have put my hands on.

I have 5 five-zips stretching from like 2011 to 2018. Quality seems fine to me.

I think the new ones are a bit shorter in the body, but not sure. Only judging from online SSENSE pics.

Question: Comparing these two Falcon Garment DR2s, what exactly causes the difference in how the jacket drapes open between them? Is it a matter of P2P measurement? Waist measurement? From the photos, we can see the shoulder seams appear to fall roughly similar on the two guys, yet the opening is so different. I think the "X" opening of the jacket on the left is a way more flattering fit.

The short answer is no. Quality is a very subjective word that people convolute with cultural relevance.

With the Margiela brand, fabrication and construction quality were never outstanding, to begin with. I have an original 5Zip jacket with the MRS zippers as well as a wool coat from that era. Construction is decent at best. I would argue such a measure of quality became better after the brand was bought out by Renzo Rosso. Quality control improved but at the cost of unique ideas. That is what people truly moan and groan about.

^ Are we sure? How so, shoulders hunched forward, rounding out the upper back separate the lapels into the X figure?

I get really sad when you guys talk about MMM 5-Zips because I used to have 2 that I loved with all my heart, but then I got to yolked / swole / str8 jacked and sized out of them.

The Rick Owens mentality of working out > clothes screwed me over

The first pair of photos isn't. They're both Falcon Garments DR2s.

The same model can still be made with two different patterns. The pattern may have changed at some point. Or they used two different workshops.

You can tell the pattern is different because the front edges are not the same. The revers/ lapel is also set differently. One is set higher to the shoulder.

Well, that sucks. Imagine putting in an order not knowing which pattern you're going to get. For the record, my old DR2 leaned towards the one of the right, and I never liked that about it.

how it looks to me. take the top 2, on the left our man is rolling his shoulders fwd , on the right the neck looks slightly forward etc. i don't think those are different patterns
