Hello! This is my first post here, hope I get decent advices here.

As a student I'm only starting to raise my collection of quality footwear. My problem is my unusually long toes (especially first toe). So far I've tried Church's (last 73), Allen Edmonds (last 5) and Loake's and none of the makers has satisfied my needs.

Usual situation is that when my heel is sturdy in its place my toes are all cramped. Now I'm looking for different makers which produce shoes with longer toe boxes. I used the search -option but without luck. I have been very satisfied with square-toe boxed shoes (comfortvise) since them allow my first toe to be in its place, but I really don't like the aesthetics of the square-shaped toe box and so prefer the more rounder versions.

I'm particularly interested in Crockett & Jones but advice on any quality-maker and its last is great. My financial situation doesn't allow MTO or bespoke. So what are the lasts you recommend? Thank you in advance.

Ideally I'd recommend the Edward Green 82. Failing that, the C&J 348 might fit the bill.

Actually I have Paul Smith shoes I wear in the rain and those things are like clown shoes. Try a pair on.

Okay, thanks for the advice so far! Most of my shoe purchases are based on internet-shops, so I guess it will be some kind of hit-and-miss process ahead of me. How about C&J last 341, I'm under impression that those are good for long toes. Am I wrong?

The Alden 'Aberdeen' last should also work well for you.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
