Firstly, there are many different types of lasik ops.

Secondly, the problems I heard including halos when you look at streetlights at night. You cant read fine fine print no more.

Thirdly, you are Steve Jobs, just get a retina transplant from a third world country.

have an eye doc who does not do lasik evaluate whether you're a good candidate.

my eye doc told me that lasik works best with certain sized retinas (the smaller the better). my retinas are a bit large and while lasik is likely to improve my vision, it will also leave me seeing spots because the laser missed part of my retina.

my doc warned me off lasik.

It probably has more to do with pupil size than the retina. The pupil is the opening that lets light go through to the retina. It is that black hole in the center of the coloured part (iris) of the eye. The pupil changes size relative to the amount of light in the area. When lasik is preformed, the prescription is "lasered" onto the cornea (clear part covering iris/pupil) where a contact lens would usually be placed. When it is dark (night driving), and the pupil enlarges, sometimes halos are seen following a lasik procedure. The reason for this is that some of the light is entering the pupil outside of the area where the lasik procedure was preformed. People with larger pupils may have more of a problem with this. There may be some procedures that are better for people with larger pupils. I would discuss it with an expert before considering any type of permanent vision correction surgery. Like everything else, the techniques are constantly being improved on.
