It works better with skinny, tappered jeans. You need some sort of high-top (not mid) for optimal effect. I do it with Lanvin sneakers so maybe check out those to get an idea of how it looks.

Try not to listen to people too much also, as many people here seem to think you can and can't wear things a certain way and believe they know better than the fashion designers out there who put out such outfits.
