Jacket too short?

Hi folks,

I recently had a suit made in Hong Kong and I asked for something on the trendier side, meaning a slimmer fit and a shorter jacket, but I'm worried the jacket is way too short. I'm assuming this one is unfixable since it's generally hard or impossible to lengthen a jacket, but maybe I can have them adjust the pattern for the next one. Any thoughts? Is it totally irredeemable? (also the camera angle is a little weird. It's taken from below my waist.

That looks terrible. Sorry. As you already are well aware, the jacket is far too short, the lapels are ridiculously narrow and the button point is, indeed, too high. I'd say you got what you asked for, frankly.

I like the lapels. Agree re: length and button stance. I'm going to try to get them to re-do it. Any other notes?

I don't think it's too short and I think the button stance is fine. The jacket just about covers your butt. I can't tell how wide the lapels are though from the picture. I think overall it looks good

The camera being low when taking these pictures skews the appearance for the worse. The eye level of persons seeing this suit would be higher and I think the suit would have a better look with a higher camera position. I don't like short suits but this suit looks to be right in line with the shorter slender cut suits. No bunching, no wrinkles, and no places where it is too tight. Lapel width is personal too. If you were planning to wear narrow ties or around 2 inches then the lapels would be proportional to ties of that width range.

Far too short - is it even level back to front? But stance a joke and the lapels are just wrong

Better angle here. I still think button stance is too high from this angle. It sits several inches above my belly button.

I think it's pretty clear that this is not a style that most people on this forum prefer (or I, for that matter). But let's face it: one sees far, far worse suits out there on a daily basis. Styleforum aside, this would still be an OK suit for work, celebrations, etc.

The moral of the story is that if you ask for a trendy suit, that's what you will get. Next time ask for a traditional cut. I think you'll prefer the result.

P.S. Make your bed!

Is the short/slim thing even trendy anymore? Seems like yesterday’s news.

Certainly not something I have seen in the last 18 months apart from obviously elderly garments or being worn by those with few suits to their names
