In my current office environment, it is standard to wear a button down shirt, chinos/dress pants, and semi-dress shoes (e.g. loafers). I would feel out of place wearing a sport coat or blazer, so I am looking for a jacket that is less formal. I've been looking into chore coats or shirt jackets to fill in for it. Is this an okay style? If so, what brands do you recommend? I'm looking for either 4 season wear, but if not possible, I'm leaning into summer/spring wear.

The Armoury Dayware collection has some great blousons and jackets. They're on the expensive side, but can serve as inspiration.

I would think that an unstructured, textured sports jacket would also work. Otherwise, shirt jackets, safari jackets and the like might work.

What @KOz said. I have a couple Safari 2, three 3PB, and a road jacket from the Armoury. I wear them all as casual jackets with dress pants/dress shirts and with chinos/polos.

There's also @Epaulet chore jackets which I own several of that I wear the same as The Armoury's jackets.

Thank you @KOz and @Texasmade - the Armoury looks great, but as you said, on the expensive side. I love Epaulet's chore jackets too, but unfortunately their current size availability and measurements don't look like they'd fit me unless I went custom. Any thoughts on this Alex Mill linen chore jacket, or their cotton chore jacket (in either dark navy or french navy)? I'd consider swapping out the buttons for dark brown horn buttons to elevate the look a little more.

That will depend on the type of trousers. Casual and workwear type chinos? Sure. More dress-like chinos or proper dress trousers? Not so much.

I just remembered Spier & Mackay has a decent selection of overshirts and chore coats.

I would add that Spier & Mackay also carries teba jackets, which tend to be a more casual look than a sport coat or blazer; perhaps not quite as casual as a chore coat.

Thanks all for the tips. I placed an order for the Spier and Mackey chore coat in Navy linen, so we’ll see how that goes!
