Hello,

I've been thinking of picking up some J. Crew merino sweaters for layering this winter, but I'm having a hard time finding any recent reviews of their merino. It seems like the general consensus is that they are quite good, but I've also read that the durability may vary. I'm hoping that they will hold up for 2 years at least, considering I do not produce a lot of wear on my knitwear. Are they on par with PRL's knitwear?

I'm also curious about the sizing, and how it is compared to other brands like PRL. I wear a Medium in all of PRL, knitwear, slim-fit shirts, etc, but I'm pretty much between a medium and a large. I'm about 5'11, but I have wide shoulders and upper back, which might be a problem if they are very slim. However, I do like my knitwear quite slim, as long as I have room for a ocbd underneath.

I have a merino v-neck sweater from J crew in light grey. Overall, i'd say it's worth it if you can get them on sale. The only issue with sizing is that the sleeves were too tight. I usually wear a small, but the sleeves were too tight on the small, so I had to size up and get a medium, but then the waist was too big. I've never tried Polo Ralph Lauren sweaters, so I can't compare the two. Banana Republic merino sweaters are about the same quality, though they fit better.

I quite like the slim-fit sweaters and if you can get them at a steep discount they are a good value for a basic piece. They aren't terribly slim; I'm a 38R and the medium fits me well without looking too tight.
