These Items are all that's left of the Made in USA edition of "Is it autumn yet". I'll happily take offers, as I'd like to get rid of this stuff before i leave town for a week. Hanover burgundy oxfords with a toe medallion & broguing. size 9.5 E/C (Wide). Really nice solid shoes that belonged to an old family friend. They have been sitting in a closet for the better part of a decade, I gave them some conditioner & polish (meltonian "dusky brown" and AE"chili" cream, then Kiwi brown wax) edge dressing and new laces. They have thick soles and "270 degree" welting. The heels do not appear to be original, but have very little wear, and the soles have lotsa life. Interesting surface texture to the leather (which is itself quite soft and pliable), which some would say is pebble grain, but there is also strong evidence that it could be dinosaur (based on the creasing, I'd guess brontasaurus)

J. Press is one of those stores you cannot hate. For one thing, they are completely laidback about their sales. There is a nominal sale for 25% off semi-annually. However, merchandise can be marked down several times. They do not advertise this. On one visit there, I needed a white pocket square (which are surprisingly difficult to find if you really need one.) The salesman produced several, and as usual, the nicest one was also the priciest, with the tagged price about $60. When he rang my up, however, the charge was $18. When I asked him about this, he looked at the square, and said "Oh, it must be marked down. I can never tell. I guess that we've had this a while."

Another time, I was looking for a dinner jacket, and they showed my their traditional model, a peak lapel, one-button, center-vented, flapped pocket model. It was much to square and boxy for my rather narrow frame. I remarked that I needed something slimmer, and the salesman said, with a shrug, "Yes, I expect that you do. You should probably look into one of those Italian jobs. A lot of young guys these days have different bodies" as if the new gym culture was another sign of the times.

Es sold, now just the BB golden fleece 44R and the burgundy Hanovers in an Aldenesque 9.5 E/C fitting remain. No reasonable offers declined.

Only the burgundy Hanovers are now left. Up for grabs. I'll take just about anything above shipping for these.
