The lefette informs me that she wants to do a yoga retreat in Iceland and would I like to tag along and fish. Yes.

Would love to do a road trip for three or four days. Any advice?

The River Monsters guy did a show there - went to lake that had a brown population w/ incredible searun-like growth rate.

Apparently the fishing is more or less done by Oct with the exception of Sea Trout. The Varma is close by and pretty spectacular.

I'm looking for more general driving, hiking, oogling Icelandic women advice.

Sounds like a fantastic trip, I have a couple of different friends who have been there, one couple did a road trip. Apparently there is pretty much one main road trip to be done, as there is really and truly not much to do and see, and everything is spread out. Fishing will probably be almost done by October though, waters may be frozen. Right now the weather there is already quite chilly.

Thanks. Unfortunately the trip was cancelled and we are now going to Switzerland.

Iceland roadtrip was one of the best vacations of my life. However an unexpected sandstorm (volcanic ash, more accurately) caused some cosmetic damage to the car. The bill: $7000+. The rental company's insurance, which I did not buy, specifically excluded damage from sandstorm. However AMEX paid it all through their premium insurance option (I think I paid $15 total for that coverage).
