I´m clueless about the kind of clientele that S.T Dupont has?

It appears to me that their leather goods are largely licensed out, and sold at duty-free shops and airports for ridiculous prices. Quality seems pretty mediocre, style very dusty/boring, and prices laughable. I picture Asian businessmen buying them at the Hong Kong airport.

I have no clue why anybody would buy anything from Dupont but a lighter... but I've said the same thing about Montblanc leather goods and non-pen items. If you are spending $1000 or more for a briefcase... yikes... why would you buy Dupont or Montblanc?

what do you mean licensed out? to whom?

^Every brand except for those that primarily are bag/luggage makers license out products to various factories, same as shoes and suits and whatnot (like, LV using Belvest, etc.)

Dupont doesn't make its own bags, and whoever they do use to make them doesn't do a very good job. They're mostly made in Italy, from what I've seen, but the quality of the leather, the hardware, the detailing, etc. is pretty shoddy. Glued together mid-grade (even low grade!) stuff with a premium price tag.

Dupont also has existing asian licenses in which cheap factories in China and elsewhere stamp "DUPONT" onto washcloths, gloves, handkerchiefs, etc.
