Hey guys, last thread I had, you informed me the 44R was too big, this is a borrowed tuxedo jacket that is a 42R. Ive attached some pictures. Measurements are from shoulder seam to shoulder seam-20" and from bottom of color to bottom-32". Are these generally on par with other 42R? Does the jacket fit well, or would another size fit better, yes i know the sleeves need to be shortened, but its borrowed.

- low armholes + sleeve pitch being off = bunching on the arms/sleeves
- the back needs a lot of cleaning and suggests the suit is just not for you/your body shape.
- adidas pants are nice

I like the sleeve length. It isn't so short that when you sit down wearing the jacket, the sleeves bunch to your elbows.

Those pants look navy blue so make sure you wear burg or brown shoes - not black.

Um, the pants are addidas workout pants, not dress pants.

I am no expert, and the pictures are not great but it appears to be about the right size for you, maybe a touch big, however you can't assume that all jackets tagged the same size will fit you.
Different brands and manufacturuers have quite different cuts, and even within a brand different lines or models will be shaped quite differently. I'm basically a 36 but have 38 sized jackets that fit quite well, and have tried on size 36 jackets that are too big.
The only way to tell if something fits is to try the actual garment in question on, if you are worried about what actually constitutes a good fit I am sure you can find a guide either on here or elsewhere on the net.

fwiw: I think the sleeves are torquing pretty bad here, and the collar fit isn't good either, it's gaping around the neck so it might be too tight on the chest

Back needs to be cleaned up quite a bit as well

youngscientist hit the nail on the head with sizing, it's not quite universal. Trying the jacket and and making sure it fits in the shoulders and chest along with being an appropriate length are the most important; pretty much everything else can be altered to fit better.

That said, the tuxedo jacket you're wearing in the pictures above looks too large by at least 1 size. The jacket shoulders are extended far past your natural shoulder line and there is an abundance of extra material in the back. The arms look too large.

The length is good though.

Ok, so taking my measurements, i have a 42" chest, 18-19" shoulders (dont know exact way to measure them), sleeve length im assuming can be altered so Im not getting too hung up on it. From searching around the forum, some 40 R and Ls fit me and some 42 Rs would fit. Would this be accurate based on my measurements? I know these questions get asked all the time, just dont have any realiable people to answer them, and cannot locate a tailor in the tampa area, only alteration stores.

Jacket too long. Shoulders too wide. Sleeves too long. Go one size down.
May we know your height?
