Hey SF,

Long time reader - first time posting.

I've come across a problem with safely storing my shoes when I travel, and figured I'd reach out to the community to get some ideas on how you all do it.

I frequently travel for work. I typically roll up my socks and put them in my shoes and use a dust bag. This works sometimes, but often my shoes get dented or scratched through the dust bag.

Does anyone else experience this problem? I'd love to hear how you guys store your shoes when traveling.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :)

**I apologize if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find a thread.

I don't pack socks insides---it provides no structure. I sacrifice to put up with the weight of shoe trees. Then, like you, I enclose them in flannel bags and pack them carefully. I don't experience dents or scratches. You don't check your bag, do you?

I haven't gone with travel shoe trees yet as I have not too frequently hit weight limits due to the weight of wooden trees. I am a boxers guy, and I will usually wrap the top of the shoe with a pair or two of boxers, giving more layers of cloth between the upper of the shoe and whatever else it may encounter.

Shoe tree + shoe bag + packing cube. The soles face outward and will take the brunt of any "shuffling" in my luggage.
