Just wondering what stylish guys think about a car that looks pretty good but otherwise is as slow as a Honda Insight. For those of you who don't know, it was supposed to be the successor to the CRX, but alas it is now a hybrid.

  • 1.5-liter 122 horsepower gasoline engine/nickel hydride
  • 0-60 in 8.6s *estimated
  • Seats two only
  • 31/37 mpg
  • Flappy paddle 'gear' ratio changer
  • "Eco-scoring" and "eco-guide" interfaces which encourage you to drive "responsibly"

Is it practical? Is it sporty? Are people going to buy it?

I think the Fit is a much better buy. At least it has four seats.

Would have been nice if it looked half as good as the concept, with about ~150hp (base RSX K20 is 2.0L 160hp) and 2400 lb

(4dr Honda Fit is 2520lb)

Actual production vehicle seems very redundant with the Fit in the lineup. Mileage is not dramatically better. And it's been released that there are plans for a Fit Hybrid at the end of 2010.

So.... thumbs down

Doesn't look bad, and it is economical. For someone on a limited budget or who is frugal, looks like a good option for basic affordable transportation.

I think people are thinking of the old CRX as the Si model. Honda sold a LOT more CRX Hf and Dx models than they did Si models. they were small, practical and sporty looking. in truth, they weren't all that bad to drive either but they were not what anyone would consider quick. something on the order of 10-12 seconds 0-60 sounds familiar.

This one's right on par with the old one. and people will line up to buy it because of the H in the grill.

But I don't get what makes this any more appealing than the Fit, which is all of what you said this car is and more. In other closely related news, an appearance package for the Insight came out and it looks like this:

This may be blasphemous but I think it looks better than the CR-Z. Not only that but it fits four and gets great mileage.

the front face looks soulless and uninspiring, the side just looks like a prius with small batmobile wings and from the rear view it looks like reverse parking and rear view will be impaired by the sloping back.awfull mish mash and ugly to boot.

I think it look terrific. As I understand it it's only going to be a hybrid though.

If I was only 20 and that car had a proper motor I would be all over it.

I rather like the looks, but wish it was a lot lighter. If I wanted a small honda, I'd still get the fit though.

Styling's a step in the right direction, I say. Underpowered, but I think they will make an Si version like they did with the old classic that should take its hp quite a few notches up - I'm hoping similar to the current Civic Si of around 200.

Though it sort of goes against the motif of it being a hybrid. But who said you can't have fast hybrids?
