HK bespoke or MTM canali

What would all of you choose-a bvespoke suit from ww chan or a mtm canali. I was more leaning towards a mtm canali since I know what I will be getting.

There can be no question - a Chan (or Yao) bespoke every time.

Well, you chose the fabric, didn't you? Choose a better fabric next time if you don't like your current one.

different cut suits. HK will not copy the fit of the canali.
If you like the canali suit then order from Canali!

If I was planning on getting just one suit, I'd get the MTM canali. If I was planning on ordering a number of suits over a few years, I'd get the HK bespoke.

just spoke to Gordon Yao and he seemed very friendly and suits start at $900. I'm planning on getting a black and white nailhead in Scabal from gordon.

I do use Gordon Yao and have done so for a number of years. However one cannot deny Chan is good and in the HK premises at least has a broad range of cloths.

I'll risk my neck here and say that for my next suit, if I had to choose, the Canali probably inches it - the styling is very nice, whereas the Chan suits I've seen are a bit 'conservative' which has it's appeal in its own way but I have enough of those types of suits for the time being. I would have thought that if you knew exactly what you wanted, the tailor should be accomodating?

After speaking to the tailor I'm comfortable with going with a Yao suit instead of a Canali. I am getting a black and white nailhead hopefully in a Scabal cloth and I believe the price is cheaper than a MTM Canali.

Can't go wrong. My only problem is the time frame . It might have to be mailed to me.

I've no real idea of Mr Yao's work but I have seen one of his blazers in person on a SF'er and it looked good. Very traditional though, not at all 'Canali'.

I don't own a Canali, but have tried on and inspected several. I thought the silhouette was lovely and the craftsmanship very nice. In line with chobochobo's post, many of the Chan suits I've seen in pictures here and on AAAC do seem a bit more conservative than the Canalis I've seen. However, Chan is very flexible in responding to client requests. The one Chan suit I own makes the typical Canali silhouette look absolutley stodgy in comparison. Patrick did a spectacular job translating my requests into a great suit.

This being my first Chan suit, the fit needs to be tweaked. But, I expect my experiences will be in line with the other forumites who say the fit is not truly dialed in until the second or third suit.

As for quality of workmanship, the Canalis I've inspected are quite nice. But, the Chan is a level or two above.

So, I think chorse123 offers advice worth considering when he suggests going for the Canali if you only intend to get one suit but go for Chan if you might order a few suits over a few years.
