These are Cole-Haan's "bench made in England" line, which I'm leery of. I like the look of these shoes, though, and I can't place them-- they don't look obviously like any Cheaneys or C&Js that I've ever seen.
Thoughts?

Not sure what you mean entirely but those are Oxford shoes, that is the design type not the brand. Don't confuse them with the Derby shoe, which have open laces. For styles of different types of shoe please check out this helpful website http://www.atailoredsuit.com/mens-dress-shoes-types-(a).html

They are nice shoes though. I have several similar pairs of different brands and varying qualities.

Thanks-- I'm wondering who manufactured them. Sorry if I was unclear. I know Cheaney and C&J have manufactured this line for Cole-Haan in the past, but this shoe doesn't look like a captoe Oxford I would expect to see from either of those manufacturers, and I'm wondering if there are any "tells" in the handiwork that someone more knowledgeable than me could use to deduce the maker.

EG also made shoes for CH many years ago. Can you add a picture of the soles and heels?

That is my strong suspicion! I have a pair of black EG Chelseas on the 202 and these certainly seem to resemble them in their details. Unfortunately I don't have photos of the soles and heels.
