Pre-crash I started a thread on great concerts and after last night's experience I thought I would do it again.
Last night Mrs 808 and I saw Pink Martini in DC. They were absolutely phenomenal. There were 12 band members including: singer, piano, cello, violin, secondary singer and light percussion, guitar, upright bass, drums, percussion1, percussion2, trumpet, and trombone. It was soooo good. They sang in English, Japanese, Croation (or maybe it was Serbian), Italian, French, Arabic, and Spanish. But their music isn't some ultra-ethnic music. It is swingy and dance-y, and they really dig songs from old movies and stuff.
I highly recommend them to everyone: http://www.pinkmartini.com
How about you? Anything good lately?
