Today I have for sale a wonderful 100%wool Polo Sportcoat. The only reason I am selling this is because the sleeves are to long and they have working buttonholes. Price includes shipping in the SOLD pending payment which is what I paid for it.

DESCRIPTION: 3 BUTTON DESIGN. 2 FRONT POCKETS WITH FLAPS & 1 CHEST POCKET. SINGLE REAR VENT. FUNCTIONAL CUFF BUTTONS.

MEASUREMENTS: LENGTH FROM TOP OF COLLAR 32". SLEEVE 25", CHEST 38-40".

A 38-40 inch chest seems awfully trim for a 38R. Does it fit that way?

This was the measurements I was given. However I believe it is closer to a 40- 42" chest. I am inbetween a 38-40 depending on maker and this jacket fits well on me. For comparison I wear a 40 in Isaia. Hope that helps

That's just a generic quote. 2 inches is not an acceptable margin for error in measuring a coat. 38R should be 40" in the chest.

Can you measure the chest (at the armpits) yourself?

I hope this helps. I layed the jacket flat and measured the armpit to armpit on the front of the jacket and it measured 20". Which I am assuming makes the chest
