WS Fosters was in town last week Will's blog posts his experiences and other relevant information There home site is quite spartan but I was told they planned on upgrading it very soon to including a plethora of shoe Appreciation pics that client's can opt to commission On black leather, I like their fading, whether in a strong or mild form They had a couple of books with shoe pics to help the client's design juices flowing. I loved the curved line brogeuing on the apron

Are these shoes current samples or ones made many years ago? I heard from a friend that Fosters don't make shoes like they used to...

The owner of Fosters mentioned she has a special relationship with the owners/manager of Edward Green. Thus they provide special samples of Edward Greens badged under the Fosters name

It would be fantastic if they could provide a semi-bespoke service where they design and put together the upper portion of the shoe using distinct Foster's designs and then Edward Green, using their lasts would complete the job. Sure its not bespoke and its not using a customer's bespoke last but it would provide those not in the market (price range) of bespoke, with the ability to acquire a Foster's designs with the backing of Edward Green's lasts and assistance in completing the package. I suggested this to them and am awaiting their response. In addition Sara mentioned their fading would be available on black shoes for a slight upcharge since they would be making the upper. This would also provide the client with access to bespoke leathers. Yes, the cost of this shoe will be beyond Edward Green's RTW/MTO prices, but would be less than Foster's bespoke.

Just like marijuana is alleged to be the gateway drug to cocaine....semi-bespoke might be the gateway to me eventually becoming a Foster's bespoke client...or in the alternative, a client of Foster's semi-bespoke

I have a pair of recrafted Fosters (by them) bespoke wingtips which I want to date and get the actual size to sell them. They are too small for me. Do they give that to you if you give them the shoe wall number?

Foster & Son certainly can see from their records, when and for whom a particular pair of bespoke shoes was made. I don't know if they will give you that information. particular if the shoes are relatively recent and the original owner (or his family) might still be around. (Many firms will write the date into bespoke shoes. I don't know if Foster does that.)

The shoes are bespoke, they have no size as such. The shoes were made to the size of that particular customer's last.
