First suit: ticket pockets?

OK so I'm a 21 year old senior in college, and I just bought my first "quality" suit yesterday. It was a 2-button dark gray w/ pinstripes by Versace. I'm obviously a noob when it comes to the finer details of suits so I thought I would ask here.

Anyway, I loved how it fit me, but it had a ticket pocket, which I had no idea about at first. The sales person told me they were "in fashion". I'll primarily be wearing it at work, since I've finally got a job where I can wear a suit to the office without feeling out of place.

I just wanted to get some opinions on ticket pockets? Specifically on a suit that is primarily for wearing at the office. I read some of the other threads on ticket pockets and some people seemed to say they were inappropriate for a business suit. Honestly it took me like 5 minutes to even notice that the jacket HAD a ticket pocket because I didn't even know what it was.

James Bond wears a suit that has a ticket pocket in Quantum of Solace, so it can't be too bad, right? LOL. I find myself looking for ticket pockets in movies and stuff just to make sure it's OK to have.

It's okay. Nobody is going to notice. I have a Dark Grey suit with ticket pocket...nobody ever said anything...if they do notice, it will be good things

Thanks guys. You have put my mind at ease. I have NEVER noticed them before, but now that I've started looking for them, they are sorta common.

I think they add a touch of class to a suit. I am getting one on my second suit.

Are ticket pockets generally not found on cheaper suits?

Ticket pockets are historically associated with bespoke, though in recent years many ready-to-wear makers have begun mimicking custom jackets with things like ticket pockets and surgeon's cuffs. (The latter is particularly annoying when the sleeves are too long.)

Unless your colleagues are SFers you wont have any trouble about it whatsoever.

a ticket pocket is fine, it is a bit 'flashy', but on a dark suit less noticeable... It's not really "in" or "out" of fashion, as mentioned, it's just a feature that historically was a sign of a personalized suit. Nowadays it's just a matter of taste since it's not functional.

The fact that you didn't notice it doesn't mean much... it's your first suit. and you probably don't work in an office all day with people wearing suits.

Outside ticket pockets are OK - not perhaps the most formal of features but certainly not one which is a great issue.

Ticket pockets are useful for the od small things (Ticjets, receipts etc) that you accumulate in a day but when you do graduate to bespoke better to have two or even three inside ticket pockets and none outside.
