Hey all,

Want to ask you about clothing stores (or boutiques) that are worth visiting in San Francisco?

I've only been hitting Zara and Westfield in Union Square so far.

Thanks for the tips in advance!

If you're idea of a fashionable store is Zara, then you are going to get an answer here that is useless to you. I would imagine that spending over $150 for a shirt makes you cringe a little and paying $300 for a pair of jeans sounds stuipd. Just go to big name places you are familiar with. J. Crew, Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, Barneys, etc., The good thing about SF is that all those places will be relatively close to each other and in general the store in SF will have a better selection than your local store

Thanks for the response!

Even though I might not be able to afford items like the ones you mentioned, I would still like to educate myself with really good brands and nice fashion.

If that's the case, what are some of the nicer stores? Thanks lemmywinks

Places I frequent in SF...although most of my shopping (90%) is done online.

--Acrimony in Hayes Valley (wings + horns, gitman)
--Barneys near Union Sq (go to the 5th fl, place to see and try stuff you see online, stock is hit or miss)
--Club Monoco in Westfield (best mall brand, if you get things at least 50% off)
--Maas & Stacks (BoO, W+H, CP)
--Alden shoe store near Union Sq

I'm visiting some family in the Bay Area this summer and would really appreciate the scoop on some must hit spots as well...

Wilkes Bashford.

Some others in Hayes Valley that I cannot recall name had some very nice stuff, they were in the local fishwrap recently (sfgate.com). Google it or yelp.

The above are all good choices. And yes, Archive is still around, stopped by there recently. Saks/Bloomingdales/Neiman Marcus are all decent if you don't have those stores around where you are from as well. There's a cool high end consignment store called Sui Generis on Market St reasonable close to Maas n Stacks that has a ton of SF approved stuff at decent prices, if you're into that sort of thing.
