dyeing cotton fabrics?

Virtually all modern thread does. Cotton thread does not hold up very well, and it really only shows up in the most repros of repros. It's more a question of whether or not yours will take any dye, which is pretty hard to tell.

WOAAHHH THERE. Never ever use RIT dye to dye clothes. I'd recommend Procion Mx dye. The dying process is slightly more complicated but can still be done in your washer. check out pburch.net. If you go into Blick art supplies or any other art supplier you should be able to get some soda ash and dye.
