I think it's been online for a while. Maybe just not complete. I have looked up my ancestors there before in online searches at least.... To think with just a couple minor twists of fate I could be a Lord or Duke something right now.

This full version, with its particular search capacities, etc. has been online since August 4. I'm sure there were other versions, certainly not as complete as this one, they did a wonderful job, at the National Archives.

If you are a US citizen, you couldn't keep your title anyway.

I wish I could look my family up in that, but with the last name Smith and without knowing where in England we're from, it'd be a bit of a trick.

Thanks, Fabienne, for posting this invaluable link. I've been "sort of" actively tracing my genealogy for about ten years now, and am amazed at the depth of information available today for free. I've taken one branch of my family back to France circa 1000 AD. Some obscure level of nobility at some point. But at the same time, I've discovered several rather disturbing new facts about my ancestors, disclosure of which obviously was not passed down as family lore.

I've found searching for my "roots" to be entertaining and enlightening.

Don't think they were Catholic.

And we've already had problems.
