1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Yup

I live in HK, I have more than valid reasons to wear shorts in the summer.

No. You have pink, inflamed, varicose vein-ridden, chorizo sausage legs. Hide them in shame!

Yes - I have great legs and it would be a pity to keep them to myself.
And also, because I don't live in an era where even table legs were covered with stout hessian to avoid their gentle, seductive curves inflaming the passions.
And I own a kilt too, for the record.

    Kaftans are more practical.

    I recommend Dr. Scholl'sÂ[IMG] Freeze AwayÂ[IMG], and NAIRÂ[IMG], respectively.

Shorts are great for the beach and great when the temperature goes over 30c.

Yes, I would say the only acceptable place for shorts is at the beach and when submerging oneself in water. Other than that, they should be strictly off limits when one is out in public.

    Shorts & bucks/loafers. Job done.

People who don't like to wear shorts, in this thread, are trying to make their opinion some kind of rule. Which is f'ing stupid.

It most certainly should be a rule: enforceable by law, for the protection of retinae, nation-wide.

Also, I believe a true gentleman should never have his legs exposed in public; it's simply uncouth and indecorous.

Gents in warmer climates did wear bermuda shorts...

Officiers in colonies did wear them with pride...

It's opinion, though. If you don't like seeing hairy legs, on someone else, tough titties! I seriously don't know why some people have strange dislikes! [IMG]

Yes but your traditional Bombay Bloomers went to the knee and were worn with long socks. So only the knees were shown.

My friend's argument for wearing shorts is that he doesn't want to have "sweaty calves" when he is out in "90 degree weather". I told him that, sometimes, "one must perspire for the sake of fashion and propriety".

Also, my legs never sweat because I maintain my milieu intÃ[IMG]rieur with great efficiency, and regulate my body temperature with an insouciant ease, even in the hottest of climates.

I won't sacrifice my ideals for the sake of diaphoresis.
